It's definitely a passion, and informs my art in a sense, but the applied school-version of it really takes time away from painting. I believe in putting as much effort as possible into what I'm doing right now...There is a quote from Gary Snyder that basically goes:
"Changing the filter, wiping noses, going to meetings, picking up around the house, washing dishes, checking the dip stick, don't let yourself think these are distracting you from your more serious pursuits...practice IS the path. Strive hard."
Living in the moment really requires you to live in the...moment. At the moment, the moment is school.
Art is a mindset for me, I can't just finish my homework and pick up a brush and put down a few layers of paint, or put in half an hour. I need to commit to it fully for me to be able to get into the mood...
so in conclusion, hopefully this summer I can throw down and pump out some good stuff. Stay tuned.
